Your Tax Dollars at Work
Author: Unknown

In the late 70's I was in the Air Force stationed at McChord AFB in Tacoma, Wash. At that time the Air Force had instituted a new program whereby anyone offering a suggestion that would saves money got a check for 10% of whatever the USAF would save in the first year. A young airman I worked with noticed that whenever they cleaned out the "honey wagon" (the truck used to dump the chemical toilets on board the aircraft) they flushed the bleach water down the drain. He suggested they use it to water the grass instead and received a nice check. About 3 months later, when they noticed all the grass dying, this same airman suggested that, instead of paying a gardener, they stop watering with bleach water to save the grass. He received ANOTHER nice bonus check. Your tax dollars at work!
