Walter Osborn was educated for ministry at
Los Angeles Baptist Theological seminary (now called the Master’s
College). He subsequently spent seven years as a pastor before being
called to duty on March 1, 1943 as a Chaplain in the United States
Army. He remained in the military service until his retirement in1969.
He has since held multiple pastoral positions and owned and managed
a Christian book store.
He has been legally blind since 1976, and has been serving as
Chaplain to the Blind/Low Vision Rehabilitation Association alumni
at Birmingham Alabama, a service for blind and low vision military
veterans, since 2003. He has been distributing morning and evening
readings Samuel Bagster’s Daily Light
by e-mail to blind or low-vision users of JAWS, or similar text-to-audio
conversion software, and others who wish to receive the readings.
